Got this today, with others non-commonwealth. Pretty worn, but... 28.53mm; 11.1gm, reeded. 1926 Australia 1 Florin - 2 Shillings
Paddy, I've been after a EVII and GV Guiana 4d for a while, (GV with West Indies type) lucky to have one even in that grade !
Your comment Mark comes as an extraordinary coincidence! I was packing up to go to a show tomorrow and thought I would put aside some British Empire coins to post on this thread - and a GV British Guiana was among them! I suspect this is not the West Indies variation, but still interesting. The other two are a GV 1933 Hong Kong 5c and an 1899 Vic 10c from Ceylon.
Haha, yeah that's a different variation I have that type, is only the 2 I mentioned that I need now for them all.. And a British Guiana 1/8 guilder then I have all variations of them because the 4d replaced it
Sadly the EVII Fourpence was for sale too - but has gone now. I will try to keep an eye out for any more.
These were the other Colonial coins I put aside to show here: Hong Kong One cent 1901, Straits Settlements One Cent 1862, British West Africa Two shillings 1938, and four Travancore Cash from around 1901.
Here's some more, unfortunately the seller sent a straits 1/2c instead of the st.helena 1/2 penny so i am Now waiting for the half penny (that is if the person who received it returns it as its in a good condition and is worth alot more than the 1/2c)
While at the coin fair today, I had a chance to search my "South America" box more carefully, and turned up this one, which I think is the one you are after? It has seen better days, but is it any use to you?
My 1 1/2 pence made it here. It's a Jamaican one. Tiny too and the 2 of 1/2 is doubled .but size who could see that well ? 1842 «©ell »
Jamaica is were my nic name jello came from. I fell face first in one them green jello dishes @ high school trip . A bit of Rum helped. OO «©ell »
I was trying to think of a British Empire territory not yet represented in this thread - this one is actually pre-empire and dates from 1819, the reign of George III, during which time, for a while, we had control of the Ionian Islands in the Eastern Mediterranean, now part of Greece:
