At work today I had a customer that wanted to pay the exact amount. She gave me 3 pennies and one of them was this 1968 S . Having an S mint mark being placed right into my hand felt pretty nice. Along with this, today I also found a 1946 and 1947 P nickels in the same roll at the beginning of my shift. Finding coins in my register or from customers always brightens up my workday. I've found so many nice coins at my job in the past few months
Nice penny. My mom brings home funny notes, silver and other country coins at her job from the register.
If you are not a cashier it is always good to get in good with the cashiers you know. I have several 7-11 cashiers in my repertoire.
I've been a cashier a total of 6 months from working at Target and then Kmart. Silver is pretty much dried up. I look at all the rolls before opening them. All you find are nickels from the 40s and 50s, and wheat pennies.
In the early 80's/90's I was an store manager for the biggest grocery chain in the Delmarva area for over 20+ years. When I first started back in the early 80's I was in charge of the gumball/cigarettes 65c a pack and soup/coffee machines. I made some hefty scores back then and still have some of my finds/trades in my collection today. I remember one day inside the cigarette machine while filling and doing paperwork during the coin dump, I found over 30+ Barber dimes. Most of them were common dates, all mint to mint +, but two of them were, I mean worth in the mid to high 4 figure range. I also got many nice AU to MS 63 quarters in the date of 1932 D,S. Plus many other dates that I traded along the way. As I went on through my management levels until I got my own store as head store manager, I got some nice blue, red and even gold notes from $1 to $20. I think the best score I got were some people having crisp $500 dollar bills to break and I was the one to make it happen for them I went in my savings account right after work to buy back from the store before daily money totals were deposited for Brinks pickup. I was also the area chains local silver hound, anyone had any amounts of silver I would pay them twice face value back then. WHO"S LAUGHING AT ME KNOW
Since March, the only silver coins I found were a 1962 quarter, 1964 quarter, a 1963 dime, and a 1941 P war nickel. I am always on the lookout for 2009 nickels and pennies as well. I have about 10 2009 pennies and 2 nickels, one P and one D.
