    Hey cointalk,
Before I moved to Korea, I bought rolls of Lincoln Wheaties. They were cheap, and I did find some early dates. After I was done searching through them ( for Rpms) I figured out there were multiple examples for each date. So I picked out the ones that matched my grandparents' birthyears, put them in a 2 by 2 cardboard flips and gave to them. It was great seeing them "ooh" and "aah" over it, and enjoying my gift!! I may have inspired a collector... So, do any of you guys give coins as gifts?

Occasionally. I have a bunch of dateless buffs that I distribute as small gifts.

I once gave my Great Grandma a 1917 Lincoln for her birth year.

Also, I gave a Mercury dime to a little boy, a step son of a good friend, whose new brother (my buddy's firstborn son) was born with multiple medical issues. The boy was scared for his brother and feeling left out as we all rushed to put together a fundraiser. As his medical bills approached $1M... and all I could do was have the event mentioned on the radio and go begging to local businesses for donations to use as event auction items. Still sore that nobody was willing to let us raffle off an ATV.....
The boy seemed very lost and the gift sure cheered him up.

In my state anyway, 'raffles' are regulated by the MN Gambling Control Board. Not sure if I could legally hold an online raffle without filing tax forms, etc.

or a bunch of us from CoinTalk could donate some money to you as a fund raiser. if you collected $5.00-$10.00 from 2,000-8,000 CoinTalkers that might help. ? you might have to ask the administrator Peter if that is possible to set up.

remember to mention to include the new gold reverse proof releasing on the 8th a lot of members cant afford $1500 but they could buy a ticket for $15 so even if there would be only participants one lucky winner would get the coin.

BTW do let me know who is going to call the raffle i haven't practiced mind melt for years for nothing :D

When I'm home on Halloween, I give the young'uns common buffalo nickels along with their candy.

Not really as gifts persay, but I give out buffalo nickels and the occasional IHC in change to kids when I do book fairs at my daughter's school in the spring and fall. There are a couple of 6th grade young ladies that are quite knowledgeable about monetary instruments and they really get a kick out of getting old stuff in their change. I have even been forced to bring older $2 bills in to exchange with them. What is really fun is months later seeing them at the school carnival and hearing they have saved their goodies and want more in the future.

I would love it! But... here's a problem as being a 12 year old collector who lives in Seoul, Korea. i did ask my parents if I can PM you my address but parents, they could be quite overprotective about giving out addresses online:( Well many of you guys here are independent and you don't have to follow everything your parents say...well different for a 12 year old student. Still, you're a great man Craig!:):)You made my day by posting it:)

It's sad that my parents are quite unimpressed with me giving parts of my cherished coin collection to them as gifts. My mom spent a CU 2 dollar bill the day I gave her bidding her good luck.

My grandma had a mercury dime in a necklace, but it was a random year. So I gave her one with the year of her birth.

    Other than that, no.

Couldn't you convince them to get a P.O. box?
