New the the forum. I joined because I found a coin that appears to be a 16th century Elizabeth shilling (??) but it doesn't match the common results when I "google" it.

Obverse: "ELIZAB DG ANG FRA ET HIB REGIT". It has the crowned Elizabeth image. However... NO ROSE, and the reverse is NOT the "long-cross" over the coat of arms. I'ts the reverse that keeps stumping me.

Reverse is the coat of arms ("Shield") with what appears to be: "ZS CVTVM FIDET PROTEGETEA"

Help? Do you need pics? Am i even posting in the correct thread?

    Thanks,
    Larry (Chicago, IL)

I will post pics as soon as I can. Some research did indicate the truncated Latin meant... Obverse: "Elizabeth, by the grace of God, queen of England, France, and Ireland."

Reverse: "The shield of faith shall protect her."

That probably didn't help any, but I am kind of fascinated by this thing. Again, pics to come, as soon as I can manage it.

Just bought this one. Noticing that the prices for these are really soft nowadays. Seven years ago, this same coin would have gone for $250USD-plus. I got it for 93.

Now on the Pfennig I see a big die chip from the tip of the first wide feather above the left leg of the Eagle, to the rim. Odd that it is thin at the rim and gets wider as it gets farther into the center.
