Since you now know that it isn't gold, I think you would be wasting your money.

Not necessarily. This coin is in really rough condition, so much so that I doubt even an attribution service would be able to ID it. But since it was found by your own hand (in New Jersey, of all places!), it would be nice to know what it is. Just don't expect any financial boon from it.

Better pictures suggest it is def not gold. Color wise it looks silver or billon but it would be phat if the coin was a billon crusader denar or some equivalent ! History Channel has a show about undiscovered and understudied american history.

Ok here's what you do call Pawn Stars ....they will buy anything that some nailed together.... and then maybe they can send it American Restoration for a full restore..... :)

    doug444 STAMPS and POSTCARDS too!

No way. The goofy dork (forget his name) would accidentally spend the coin in a Coke machine.

Well I think I might try to send it out , If they can I'd it great, and it can be added to search sight ect and maybe it will release alittle more history of the area it was found. if not then well Still a great find. I think it still will be cool to know . Thank You all again for your help and suggestions. If I get any more info I will let everyone know.

At 0.5 grams, this item would have to be a bit on the thin side. Coins of that weigh that are very thin will measure about 10mm. I just stumbled upon this thread today and may have missed the post giving the diameter but it should have been mentioned somewhere to assist in the ID.

What I hope has been learned here is that jewelry stores that can't tell gold from other metals are not good places to buy gold. I might suggest not buying anything else there either.

Living on the Chesapeake Bay I can tell you most "Fresh water" rivers that flow into the Chesapeake /Delaware Bays and their tributaries are Brackish so would NJ as the tide flows in and out of these tidal tributaries and depending on the tides hight the salt water will flow up river until the tide changes.....Now here's a real fun fact about tides and salt/ fresh water. The Amazon river flow output is so much....that up to 200 miles out to sea you can find fresh water from this rivers flow! It been known by sailors to find fresh water at sea off South America.

Yes, it is a sesino of Venice, late 16th century. Coincidentally, a few days after it was ID'd, I ended up cataloging about a three hundred various Venetian coins, including several sesini.

Im using a standard 10x jewel's loop, Which works really well , But sometimes I hold the lenses of the camera upto the loop to bring to 20x zoom, lol
