Bank's coin machine was making noise so I had a teller open it up. Out came this weird thing. Image195.jpg Image196.jpg

Do banks have reject slots too? I have never seen a reject slot being emptied at my bank (despite making them them empty the change bay every time:D).

Yes, my bank's machine has a reject slot but very rarely do I ever find anything in it as the machine constantly reminds the person to check the slot. However, the token/coin thing was in the hopper and it wouldn't go through.

I know my credit union maintains an "over/under" account for the tellers to account for the finds they make in the machine reject slot when they are working on the machine or cleaning it in the morning. A friendly vault teller advised me to ask the tellers when I come in if they have anything in the "over/under" account that they will sell me. Has been a pretty good deal for me, picked up a '45-S Merc, 46-D Roosie, and a '64-D Washer in the past couple of weeks. Another excuse to sweeten up the tellers with goodies like candy and event tickets.

The past 9 years I've been searching I've scored multiple steel pennies, silver dimes, foreign coins, and even wheat pennies

The 100 won coins were used in the US with a bad reason: a 100 won coin is the exact same size as a quarter, but face value is the half of a quarter.

Four Canadian quarters, two Canadian dimes, a French franc from 1969, and another $2 in American change. Windfall!

I suppose this was rejected in one way or another...
Today I walked by a fountain and saw a coin. Naturally, I went to go pick it up. It turned out to be a 1942 French 50 Centimes, from when France was occupied by the Germans.

This morn got a rarin' for bacon an' eggs an' bisqies for breakfast for the fam - went to the store, got the goodies and raced to the Coinstar by the exit, had to because my oldest daughter was trying to beat me there:

Quite flipping possibly my best coinstar find ever - I have found Mercs before, but never a nice 1932 Washer - too bad no MM but I am just happy to find 81 year old silver and a '45 Merc.
