Saw this one last night; seller ended the auction after being notified of the issues... Cert had no image but a link to a Heritage auction: Comparison of the obv slabs: Barcode scanned correctly: Looks like they were trying to duplicate the rim toning: Best, Jack.
I would also think anyone collecting Morgans would "run away" from a bag mark free one of these. As usual another one of your posts very interestiing.
Looks like they've significantly upped their efforts, then. I swear, if I look at enough of these posts, I'm going to learn how to read barcodes by eye (without a scanner)...
Yes, the cheek is too smooth to be only an MS-62 grade. The face looks more like a 1921 Morgan Dollar and the reverse lost the breast feather detail which is in the deepest part of the design. The rims around the edge also appear to be too wide.
Unfortunately for those with more limited knowledge and not in contact with this string of messages, these things are immoral. That’s especially true of many copies were made, and they were given a fake slab home.
Note back from the seller after he ended the listing- "We won't sell anything counterfeit.. It is a very good knockoff however, when we performed an Xray on the item, it became very obvious".
