Top left? Would it be either the coin on the bottom row, second from the left or the first row, second from the right?
I think the bottom row, first coin on the right. The empress coins I see often, even those reverse types. If I get two choices then last row, second from left?
Besides the top left, (handcarved fantasy), the only ones I do not readily recognize is bottom right and the reverse on the bottom row second from left. The bottom right is pretty intriquing, since it almost appears central asian yet has western style letters. To be a little fair Dionysus, they are somewhat dark. Not the easiest for old eyes to see easily.
I did not research the bottom right one yet, just looked at the ancients. Almost everyone found the "intriguing" one... A little help, the only one that sold these past years (as far as I can see through my online research) was part of CNA XXI auction in 1992...
I myself give up. Doesnt help the photos arent super HQ. If its one of the empresses I will be surprised cause I see those types often.
Well then, here it is... Once in hand will see if my attribution stand, but I did not find anything similar yet
Randy & I have been discussing having coins of great rarity in our collections. Its just sad they arent big $ like a rare u.s. coin can bring As long as you enjoy it thats all that matters.
That depends on the coin I'd say, but often true that rarity and prices don't go hand in hand when it come to ancients. Wonder if the realized prices for the mentioned auction are available somewhere online ? Would be curious to know for how much it sold back then...
I'm still trying to figure-out which one is the ugly fake!!? => cool contest, Dionysos (I noticed it a bit too late ... ummm, not that it would have made a diff!!)
