I have a 1000 Peso note like that Manbeast but it has a stamp with an add for someone running for Congress! Not sure if it is in the US or the Philippines...

When I mentioned I got in some obsoletes I meant it, here's another one - alot of folks consider this Confederate currency but it's state issued so I sorta don't. To me, CSA is CSA and that's that. Still, I liked the green and red on this note so I thought, why not...

Well you know Manbeast, I didn't realize I hadn't posted it here when I got it a couple weeks ago, and since you asked, and this IS the new pickup thread, your wish is my command...

The 1000 Peso note was always on my want to get list for the JIM series because of the vivid purple color, but I never realized until I got it how physically small it was - a good 25% smaller than other JIM notes with a very Monopoly-size feeling. I hate to say it's something of a letdown note compared to the otherwise "nicer" designs of other JIM notes, including the very very nice 500 Peso note. Of course, at that time Japan was reeling and frankly didn't have the resources to do anything other than massively overprint cheap paper in the Philippines. I believe this note was printing in 1945 so the end was near, and it sort of shows in this note...

Note the back - Vote for Reyes for Congress! Not sure if that is for the US Congress or in the Philippines itself. Interesting nonetheless...

There was a Don Francisco Reyes that was Municipal Mayor of Coron, Palawan Philippines during WWII.

Maybe this was stamped when he ran in the next election.

Beautiful obsolete note MEC! You're right, the multi colors and the eagle are impressive. I've never seen this bank before -- very late issue for obsoletes (1862). And, if I'm not mistaken, it's signed by Harry Potter. :D

Nice, Mckinley was an awesome president. I have very little experience with photos of notes, this note looks to me like it has a very light centerfold.

I like that one Funkee, I can't bring myself to go after high denomination notes yet, just the face value is more than I have spent on pretty much any note I have - I like your example, real nice centering. Even if it isn't a lime... sad face.

And in the tradition of acquiring notes in the shallow end of the financial pool, here is another new get, this is yet another obsolete - told you I was getting some in. Liked the design on this, and a very solid face up. My paltry bid was accepted, and hence I have a new obsolete... I am going to try not to go too far down the obsolete rabbit hole, as just like collecting nationals and odd serials, as King Lear noted, that way lies madness...

This certificate arrived in the mail today. Unfortunately, it isn't the one I ordered so it goes back tomorrow. It is too large for my scanner so the image is truncated.

I'm digging that chick leaning on a freakishly large nickel.

It's a shame how the iron inks destroy the paper. For a while it was virtually impossible to prevent.

I read a recent study of various conservation methods to stop iron ink corrosion. One that seemed promising was ethanol modified phylate salts.

My first small size national. I would say it's Superb Gem Uncirculated.

I plan to send it in to PMG with my next batch of notes. I'm fairly confident it will hit 67. I'd be pretty disappointed at 66. I'd love to get it back as a 68, but I'm afraid the right margin on the face might keep it from 68, because it's just a hair strand wider than the left.
