I bought this 1965 New Zealand Half Crown. I can't tell whether it's "prooflike" (mintage: 25,000) or "proof" (mintage: 10). I think it's "prooflike", but it sure looks like a "proof"!
1933 British George V One Shilling I could have yanked this out of the flip for specs...but it's late, and I'm nothing if not lazy. I especially like this Lion atop the Crown; Quite Regal. Well preserved...maybe XF?
quite correct pre union scottish coins are not part of the british empire even though the stuarts ruled both countries, scotland was a separate entity to the rest of the british isles, irish coins from before 1928 are empire coins as the whole of the country was part of great britain. but scotland pre union was not. confusing as everything else to do with our country.........
:yes:i keep all my scottish coins with my british anyway, this is the best thread we have had on here for a while, i would never tire of looking at british and empire coins. here's another of my scarce issues.................... a trinidad countermarked shilling....... this one is a cut and countermarked spanish colonial 8 reales
This is my 1st British item I got back in 1962 or 1963.My Great Grandmother Mead gave this to me.I had a pro mat it and frame it, and hang in my den.
