yes. But technically this was part of the empire the kings were also king of hannover at the time.

 

not even technically, britain and the british empire means just that not german states, any way here's a good one from the empire a 2 lepton from the ionian islands.......

So did they not rule both lands and the empire then ? Why did they bother putting the shield of Hannover on English coins ? Because they were completely different things I guess.
