My album will be quite happy and for less then 20 my wallet is too lol Of course this also means i get to smash another slab open hehehehehe
Hey! Sounds like you did okay based on the fact that a VF is worth around $45 (Not detailed), according to : 1914 S Lincoln Wheat Penny Coin Value Prices, Photos & Info (usacoinbook.com)
The OP stated it's for an album and it's not a somewhat slab reliant coin so why not?now if it was a nice 1909 S V.D.B then I would truly question that decision. Some people just aren't slab people, they like to look at the coins eye to an eye and not intombed as I would say. Also a lot of people purchase key date coins certified to ensure complete authenticity and then fill in those important holes but keep the labels.
I understand. Thank you for the explanation. I appreciate it. I'm still learning and it seems there is so so much to learn about this hobby!
I'm all for smashing things and having a cool complete album, but it is kind of amusing to me that some folks seem to only buy PCGS slabbed coins, and consider all else inferior and lacking. I try to remember to buy the coin, not the slab, even if it's got a green bean on it (though those are often nicer).
I see that. But I would like to "graduate" to a level of knowledge where I feel like I know the basics. But I never seem to even get past first grade!
@Good Cents & @Sting 60 Every day I learn something new every day ....esspecially in numastics! But also life in general..... there's so much information out there ...and its yours free for the taking. Coin collecting taught me many things.... from many subjects and gave me the push I needed to be a better student. Research is your friend...and numastics has given you the spark to thirst for more....to learn, understand and then share. I am a firm believer in coin clubs ,scouting,as well other youth organizations that use numastics as a lead into making learning fun. The biggest problems of todays world could be solved by making programs as such...and not only numastics....but other interests also that makes communication something more than a cell phone conversation can provide. I walk the dogs in the morning ...I see the kids walking to and on the bus stop. All have cells in hand... As well ear buds in.... no one is talking to another, unless its on a phone or text message. So sad to see our youth unable to communicate without a mobile phone. So sad to know just how much they are missing. I see more socialization in my dogs then the 25 kids at the bus stop. At least the dogs show a sign of social life...by wagging their tails. We all have passion within us.... however only we can pursue that passion by building on our knowledge Of that passion.....and lastly by sharing that passion with others. Nothing is so self assuring than being able to share the knowledge with another...knowing you made a difference...not only for the student ,but also the teacher as well. Knowlege is like a revolving door it should always be open to allow it to be learned, yet revolving enough to disregard any facts that are far from the truth.
Accidentally? Were you hitting the sauce? Bidding while loaded can be fun. I once got an alert that I was outbid and lost an Ebay auction. Apparently I’d placed a bid for $875 on Shakira’s performance bra.
