I thought this was going to be a small collection... I decided to collect large silver coins (~1 oz) with Elizabeth wearing the The King George IV State Diadem In most countries that QEII is the monarch, that would mean coins in the late 1980s and 1990s. I particularly wanted to concentrate on 1990, since I also have a Victoria collection from 1890. Starting with the obvious countries, Great Britain, Canada, and Australia, I started running across odd countries that I didn't expect, and in some cases I had never heard of. Next was Alderney (just happened to find this one out of the blue) and Fiji. This is what I have so far: Top row: Alderney, Australia, and Canada Bottom row: Fiji, Great Britain, and the Slave Queen from the Silver Bullet Silver Shield series. This project has turned out like an onion... I keep peeling back the layers only to find more layers. I had no idea Lizzie was queen of so many countries. Eizabeth II Queen of Gibraltar??? Really??? Apparently so. Here are the countries (and British Overseas Territories, and Baliwicks ) I have found so far that have that particular portrait on their coins: St Helena Bahamas Bermuda Baliwick of Jersey Baliwick of Guernsey Isle of Man Cayman Islands Cook Islands Tuvalu Gibraltar Niue New Zealand Solomon Islands Falkland Islands St Lucia (1985) British Virgin Islands Yikes! I keep finding more every day!
Nice collection! It wasn't until I started really collecting coins that I realized how truly massive the Commonwealth is. Big enough to be a true drain on your wallet if you allow it. I have to admit I prefer the first portrait of the young foxy Queen Elizabeth in her twenties, though.
She's a babe........even in her present state. Oh, and I'm sure she wouldn't approve of me saying that (she's such a proper Lady). Forgive the brackish, boorish nature of an uncultured colonial........
Great Collection!! (keep-up the good work!!) I think my favourite portrait of Liz-II is the one found on the ol' paper-money (Devil's portrait) ... man, I love the looks of those wonderful ol' bills!! => the close-up on the $10 dollar note shows the Devil's Face portrait ... sadly, my nice ol' $1000 dollar note is the later, modified portrait (where they fixed the poor girl's hair so that she didn't have a monster hidden in her hair-do!!)
While deciding what direction to go with this collection, I picked up some smaller silver proofs. That's when I still thought this would be a small collection
More "small" coins. I guess I'll have to have a small coin collection too. These are "Piedforts". I looked that up and it said they were heavier. I didn't know if that meant they were just thicker or larger in diameter too. They are REALLY THICK!
Awesome coin!! Oh, and I have a lotta good ol' Dominion of Canada "glove-coins" ... => gawd, but it feels soooooo fricken good being able to actually "touch" your awesome coins!!
Ooops => sorry DrHenley, I totally got swept-up in myself ... my bad!! => I love the Liz-II coins (honestly) => man, I've got a lot of em!!! (cheers, my friend) ... great coins!!
Gawd => ooops, okay ya caught me ... my Liz-II coin doesn't have the cool crown ... huh, I gotta try harder (I'll go look) => again => great collection my friend (thanks for sharing!!)
My Jubilee head Vickies are circulated so they get fondled a lot Most of the Lizzies are proofs so I don't get very intimate with them.
Here's one I didn't even know I had! It was in a mint presentation box with the reverse up, and because it was 2002, it never occurred to me that it might have the obverse i was looking for!
fretboard, you shouldn't aught to have done that...now I HAVE to have one of those  I LOVE that! I do have a UK full Sovereign Proof coming.
