I know its a rim clip.
Is it also off-center? A Partial Collar? Struck Thru Reeding?
I dont know what the reeding looks like.Dont have it in hand yet.

I'm not seeing the Blakesley effect. Are you sure it's a clip?

It does look like a rim clip. What you indicate on the left is simple finning, not that unusual on proofs. On the right looks like it could just be the die starting to wear.

According to the Error Coin Encyclopedia by Margolis and Weinberg, its technically called a disk clip. Others may refer to it as a "rim clip".

The disk clip is major enough to be categorized as a clip but minor enough to not show the typical characteristics of a clip such as the Blakeslee effect.

Typically, its just enough of a clip to disrupt the formation of the coins rim and nothing more. Disk Clips usually have fully reeded edges since the minting process itself actually enlarges the planchet. Getting the coin attributed as a disk clip will not happen at PCGS. I don't know about NGC.

I submitted an 1971-S IKE Dollar Proof with a Disk Clip to PCGS and they refused to attribute it as an error. I quoted them the description from the Margolis/Weinberg publication and they just ignored it. Instead they cited their error experts as stating that it simply was not a clip.

I eventually had to crack it out and send it to ANACS for actual attribution.

There.........Their.....They're.......There! Some day I'll get it right.

Nice note, I had never heard that description before.

Also, the 'clip' is so minor that I don't think there would be a premium.

    still a nice find

Franklin PROOF errors are extremly rare.It is not a major error but will make a nice addition to my Franklin collection.
ANACS will get it for a slab.
I dont have it in hand yet,so maybe there is something else going on with the reeding.
The marks on the face at 2:00 look like some kind of reeding marks.
    Thanks for looking.
