Gonna switch gears here today, this new get is a fractional I just picked up. I have a complete fractional set (not of every FR variant but of every type released) but there are a few notes I would like to upgrade, this one isn't a huge upgrade but a nice example that's brighter than my other, and I was seduced by the very strong punchy red seal. Couldn't pass it up at the price...

Just out of curiosity, are you aware of any fractional currency errors? It seems like enough of these were printed that there ought to be a few, but I've never seen one.

In 2010 I had correspondence with a CT member called paperpro. He knew about them and helped me with a plate number error.

    Inverted backs are not uncommon.

1902 $5 Plain Back from Fairmont, WV in Choice Uncirculated.

I got a fantastic deal. The seller did not deem this note uncirculated due to the paper wave. But we know better, don't we.

And here is today's new pickup and it's a fair departure, an obsolete sheet from Western Exchange Bank - a well known and frankly outstanding design. Love the images of the Indians looking at the trains, such a contrast between the imminent departure of the old tribal existence and the arrival of the modern era to the continent. It is striking really, I love capturing everything you can imagine in the image, the wonder of the coming new age, the bittersweet loss of the simple way of Native American life. But nostalgia only goes so far, since the horses were brought from Europe too... as well as introducing the wheel so the natives didn't have to drag their crap on the ground behind them.

Wanted to get a nice UNC of this but I kept missing, so I got this one at a fair price and removed it from it's ghetto frame and into a nice one. Looks great with my other ones. I don't collect much obsolete wise, but this obsolete design has always been on my target list. Will hang on to this and keep an eyeball out for a nice one to upgrade to later...

Love seeing all the new additions everybody.
A special shout out to both MEC2 and funkee on their sheets. The 1976 $2 Kansas City (J*) sheet is the real key sheet.

My latest may look ordinary, but it took me months to find an example in uncirculated condition. The 1999 $10 Minneapolis district had an unusually low printing of just 6,400,000 notes that went directly into circulation. In the small size guide it's valued more than even the 1999 $10 star notes.

Today's new get is a nice upgrade for me, it has all I like in a note - it's rare, it's nice, it's lime... a 1928-C $10 from New York. Doubt I'll upgrade from here. Love getting new C series, hard to come by anything but Chicago on these really, but I do keep on the lookout...

I read somewhere that this sheet was never officially printed, but made it out of the BEP anyhow. Is that true? The Schwartz/Lindquist book has no mention of a 1976 $2 star sheet from KC. I also don't see New York and Minneapolis as well. What's the deal?

I've not heard about the 76 $2 KC* sheet not officially being printed, and the 2 districts not having star sheets are Richmond (E*) and Minneapolis (I*).
I have all 10 of the available star sheets, and the KC* sheet (4-subject) will set you back about $500.

    USPAPERMONEY.INFO has some info: http://www.uspapermoney.info/serials/f1976_b.html

"The information on the star notes is somewhat questionable: Many of these stars were sold to collectors by the BEP in uncut sheet form, after it became clear that they would not be needed as replacement notes, and the BEP's own records of the serials included in the sheets sold this way are not entirely consistent."

I bundled a couple purchases and got a smoking deal on this note that is tough in this grade. Silver Certificate $10's are beautiful...

I love the note above but it cant compete with this uncirculated jewel I have also added: (If you know anything about this series and this district, then you will understand) Top Pop 2/0

And in a stop the presses announcement, I have acquired a new star... enjoy as always and marvel at it's heavy circulation and barely VF splendor...

And here is today's new pickup for you to Czech out, BAH I LOVE THAT BIT... this is a nicely colored 5 Korun note from 1921. Really like the color transition on this note, and always like the rampant lion which is on many Czech notes. Very old school look to this currency, and I like it...

This last note gives me the entire run from $1 to $100 for the Citizens Bank of Louisiana. A total of eight notes all choice uncirculated. And yes, they had printed a 3 dollar bill to make a total of eight pieces.

Love the colors on those revolutionary era notes from Mexico...

I don't collect obsoletes very much but on occasion one catches my eye, and this one did. Picture of George, great eagle vignette, nice engraving pattern and shield, and a sneak attack to get a good price and it's a wiener!

1953A $10 star note. I would say it's in Choice Fine to low Very Fine condition.

Best part is I paid $16.95 with free shipping. Hard to beat that for a note valued at $100+.

There are still some values and steals out there...

I got this uncirculated 1950 $10 narrow back for $10.45 and I kinda felt bad about it...

Duuuuude. I'm sorry. The guy paid not long after I made that post. Here's to hoping his max bid was much much higher than yours. It closed at $567.77. I would've rather you won the note... but it was out of my hands at that point. :-/

Nice job on the 1950 $10. eBay?

Today we shall make a detour back to Brazil and the fine folks at ABNCo. These Brazil series have excellent obverse engraving and wonderful colorful reverse allegorical designs, really glad I found these. This note is the somewhat tougher 50 Cruzeiro note, with a picture of Princess Isaman on the front, and Justice on the back with the notation of "Golden Law" in Portuguese of course... the rainbow colors of the reverse really are pleasant, even if the dotted paper used in this note give Justice a rated PG-13 artificial nipple...

Down to the quite hard 500 and 1000 notes as well as the 10k note - and believe it or not, the 5 Cruzeiro in ABNCo blue is very tough due to Brazil releasing an alternate 5 Cruzeiro note that is, to put a fine point on it, crap in comparison. And the TDLR versions are bah...
