Finished my first box of Halves. No silver, but a few nicer examples that I can probably make a bit on eBay. Lots of '76s...

4 rolls of 'unsearched' pennies last night. Unsearched since 1960 may have been a more accurate description. I recognized the print on the roll paper, 50s and 60s vintage rolls. I want to say skunk, but can't quite. Yes, some dated but common Mercury dimes in fair or g4 and an ef 48 Roosie. Most of the pennies very heavily worn. Very interesting to me that there was about a 1/3 each mix of no mint mark, D mint and S mint coins. I normally see one predominate. This even mix of mintmarks to me implies the origin of the roll was not a vendor doing business primarily in just one area (early mail order vendor back in the days when coins and bills came in the mail?), or perhaps a 50s or 60s era coin shop doing their own rolls? Whatever. Some heavily worn (is there a G2 grade where the date (and everything else) can only be read with a magnifier? If so, I have some) Indian Heads. In 4 rolls, no coin newer than 1948. Predominantly 1940s pennies. A few 43 steel pennies (including one in AU). Best find was a about 7 pennies from 1911 to 1915, but so faint in markings overall. Over 25 S mark pennies. I will look later for Whitman book holes where they may fit. Danced all around it, but no 31S penny. No 1916D dime either. Durn it.

Did you buy them off ebay? That would still be great if that was from the bank.

Searched two rolls of pennies since I had a few minutes - 100 pennies, no key dates, nothing from the Cherrypickers', 22 copper. I keep and re-roll the copper ones for "bullion" value.

    Best day ever!!!

silver_auction_pics.jpg mixed_auction_roll.jpg estate_silver_rollfinds.jpg total_estate_silver_found.jpg Not exactly coin roll hunting....but I bought 41 rolls of halves from an estate auction at a little over face value. I paid $35 per $30 face value halves. Average of $11.65 a roll. The end results were CRAZY!!! Before I bid I was pretty sure each roll had a 1969 ender on them but it was hard to tell... there was no description for any of the lots so it was a small gamble. Here are the results: 21solid rolls x BU 1969 40% halves + 95 x 40% mixed date Kennedys, + 3 x 1964 90% Kennedys!!!

Are there any dates in the 1970's or 1980's that I should look for in the clads. Almost all of the clads are BU from 1971-1989...is it worth trying to sell these on ebay for a premium?

Well, searched another $4 in cents tonight watching a movie. Found some coppers, and found a 1913 Wheat. Not great condition, but a decent find in circulation, if I say so.

Yes, they were Ebay purchased. Not quite skunk but close. Really the best thing was all the S stamps. That let me fill a bunch of Whitman book holes.

    Nickles box #2: skunk
    Dimes box #3: skunk
Halves box #4: one 1967 Kennedy
Dimes box #4: one 1941 Merc (wooo!), one 1964 Roosie (believe it or not, this one was actually "marked" with black tar-like substance on Roosie's ear and over the date... IDK why anyone would mark a silver dime unless it was a mistake?)
Dimes box #5: one 1962 Roosie

Cashed out yesterday's searches at the credit union and the teller had a '69-D Kennedy waiting for my clutches. Then got a call from the other credit union and searched through $20 in CWR 5 c and found a '43-P Jefferson, and a '64 Roosie out of $100 in CWR 10c. Still have $60 in cents but no time to go through them.
