Got 4 rolls of halves the other week which netted 2 40s and 1 90! 1964 to be exact. This is the first time I found a 90% half, pretty excited about that.

I haven't been posting lately because my focus on roll hunting has been embarrassing.
So while I plan on getting back on track, I did have a great find the other day. Need a penny, have a penny, take a penny, give a penny, blah blah bin at a gas station, had a wheat right on top staring at me. IMAG0265.jpg Yes that is a V.D.B. All of my rolls I have hunted and never pulled one. No...not an S, but happy none the less. Glad it happened to have the wheat end aimed up at me or I never would have saw it...and yes I did replace it with a nice shiny new penny.

I will be back again soon, because that lit a little fire for me to get some rolls to hunt.

    Cheers all!

    post 82's.jpg pre 82's.jpg $10.00 in pennies
    0 wheat
    335 pre 1982
    8 Canadian

QUESTION??? $8.50 of the roll appear to have been rolled by the same individual. I am saying this as the coins were all in the same condition. All of the cents had appeared to have been cleaned by some type of corrosive. The pre 82's had small black dots on them and what looked like "rust" the post 82's had a black coloration and it appeared that a corrosive had ate holes and the edges off of the coins. Has any one ever run across similar rolls, or any idea what type of corrosive? Uploaded two photos with phone, best I can get . Thanks K9

Thanks for the reply. I don't think that was it, they were actually clean and no residue on fingers after the search.
They may have been in the ground but then they were cleaned with something afterwords. Thanks again K9

    This ruins everything!!!

This is annoying; the thrill of the hunt is ruined. I bought my first box of halves and so far, every blasted coin is marked with helpful green marks letting me know there is nothing special in that roll.

OK--I take that back; I trying to get excited about the barely touched shiny 2000's and 1995's; but the remainder have spent too much time with slot machines or something.

I haven't unrolled all of the rolls. Any chance I'll get lucky? Is this a common practice, marking coins and rolling them?

    Sigh.

Always check them all. Marked coin doesn't always mean no silver.

    Box of Halves: 2x40%, 5 Proofs (1973S, 1976S, 1977S, 1992S, 2003S), 1987D

The 1973S and the 1967 were enders. That was a successful box in my book (although I don't really have a book) :)

Not rolls or a box, but a $200 bank bag from a new credit union that I haven't visited before. It is a General Motors affiliated credit union, and I figure they must have lots of retirees so I went in and talked them into selling me the coins from their coin machine.

I promised the tellers a box of candy if I found something 100 years or older. And they didn't let me down...

    1908 Liberty in VF
    1936 Buffer
    1937 Buffer
    6 1938, 1939 Jeffers
    33 40s dated Jeffs including 3 S mints
    56 50s including BU examples of the 1953-S, 1954-S and 1955
    Bermuda 5 cents 1987

So after I sifted through the bag I had to buy them some Sunkist Fruit Gems, talk about a happy bunch of tellers. They called their manager out to meet me - now I am on their calling list for coins from their coin machine.
