Wow, "virtual props" that is a first. Some members show their age in amazing ways. If you look at the first post, I started this based on all the silver salesmen writing articles about silver supply conspiracies. To see all the non sense articles about silver being unavailable and then to run into deals like these, it only makes sense to share the experience. Even my LCS is under spot so it surprises me people buy into the 10-20% over spot stories.

You know he is not an idiot how exactly? Also I'm not sure the OP ever said it was the owner, may just be an uninformed employee/

I'm calling BS on this story. I counted ~$11 face + Morgan + 29 or so silver nickels and various other stuff. Even if we assume you go the nickels for $1 ea (which isn't out of the question, being 35%), $168.33 per $10 face 90% means $185.16 in 90%, $18 spot on the Morgan, say $3 for the pennies and $2 for the nickels. You are saying you bought $238 of coins (at spot and below wholesale rates) for $100 from a pawn shop. I'm going back to my original theory that you're buying from someone who is about to get fired.

smb, if your LCS is selling Eagles under spot, I'll buy all they have for spot. You can keep the spread as a finder's fee.

Though a nice find, I wouldn't say it was a steal @ $115 since the melt on all these coins is around $112.

But I did say they were nice finds.

Actually it was close to $260 melt value on the second score.

Please close the thread. My point is obviously being taken differently than intended which was there is plenty of good deals out there and supply is not as tight as some would like you to believe. Just let the thread die off.

The pictures you submitted on your op, is of 8 walking halves, 1 ASE and 1 prospector.

Total melt of those coins, is $112. You paid $115. Certainly not a steal.

Wow! Great finds! I have never seen anyone get that much for $100. That's worth at least $300 and I couldn't really see it all. What is that guy thinking?

Yes, but if you look at the actual thread, I went back yesterday and got a roll of dimes, roll of war nickels, a morgan, 3 halves, some quarters, yadayada, so yeah total melt was over $250.

I cleaned them out last night! I wont bother mentioning what I paid but it was just under spot. The guy said he had always been hesitant about buying coins and that I am the only one that comes in asking about them which surprised me but he said he will be sure to call me when any come in!

Is there a 1921-P Walker in that pile ???

Nope, they were all 41-42 but I am still drooling over that 1/2 pound eagle. Seeing what they are selling for on eBay I may have to make a quick profit.

Yeah I have had a few people ask for the address of the store. Not sure if members are looking for a vacation spot or to call and tell the shop to charge more. Either way it's my secret, though my wife is a bit POed at this point. Got 28 more halves and 11 Morgan's earlier this week. Not as low as the past few scores but still under spot. They had quite a few 1/10 oz gold graded coins and a few 1/4oz but that's too fancy for me.
