This appears to be the trumpet tail mint mark, and it's not inverted.

Not the inverted mintmark, and not a repunched mintmark either.

That looks more like a ball on the bottom of the S than a trumpet

1946 S 1C inverted S Date.jpg Looks like a ball serif S, not a trumpet tail. However, another forum mentioned they thought there might be a D under this making it look like a trumpet tail. If you look again ( I will try to find it and clear up the pics) but there does appear to be something poking out from the S.

It's not an RPM or OMM...or is a normal coin from what I can see.
    Keep up the hunt!

    AWORDCREATED Hardly Noticeable

All sorts of suspicious actors in the main Obverse photo. An extra T between the R and U in trust? a 3 ( or even 13) before the G in god? There could be a D buried under that S? Maybe an A after the first T in trust? We need some better photos, what does the reverse look like?

There can't be a raised T in between the RU of TRUST, a 3 or 13 before the G of GOD, or an A before the first T in TRUST. Extra letters don't just randomly appear on coins. If they were an exact match (size and shape) of a letter currently on the coin and were incuse, there would be a chance that it could be a dropped letter. But that is bot the case with this coin. It is a normal coin.

1946 S 1C upside down D's.jpg I have ruled out inverted S. I ruled out RPM. What I did find was this. The top is my cent upside down. The bottom is a normal Mint D from a 1946 D. It looks like the D was inverted, before being stamped by the S.

I don't see it. You may be looking too hard...with a coin this circulated with so many hits and scratches, I would bet that it is just coincidental damage and seeing something that isn't there.
    Keep up the hunt!

The 3 dollar wonder himself, oops... I mean 4 dollars as of May 31st. I figured there is only one known variety of the 1946 s/d....there has to be others. What's 3 bucks?
