Just picked up this coin on ebay as I am interested in these dragon coins.I have no info other than it is a Yunnan province coin.Not even sure that is correct but passed the magnet test and looks cool,I paid $5.00 bucks so any input on what it is would be great, Thank you

Thanks for your input ripely,I believe this one is silver and I think you are right about the era since I have lots of 10 cash and 20 cash from this time period but this coin is also big.Bigger and thicker than a US dollar coin so I just don't have any idea!

Wow,I think you nailed the copy as all the details are similar except for a few minor ; flower is wrong and no dots at left !What a copy though,a lot of work for a five dollar return,what about non magnetic?
I have bought Chinese coins on eBay. The key to getting genuine coins is to vet the sellers and weigh and measure the coins when you receive them. New sellers and sellers from China and surrounding countries are best avoided.
Here's one thing I can assure you if you are buying Chinese coins on ebay. Unless you are extremely lucky, the odds of getting a crown or half dollar size genuine silver coin (except Yunnan Province) is very unlikely for under 100 dollars unless damaged / worn etc. You are more likely to win the lottery. Chinese coin prices have appreciated sharply in the last 3 years.
Hi, Stay away from Chinese coins on eBay! As gxseries writes, it is indeed very unlikely to get an almost Unc original for $5.00. The Krause Catalog of World Coins will list them. You can buy older Krause catalogs very cheaply on Ebay. You may consider beginning with a 1900-2000 catalog. After you look-up a few dozen coins you may find yourself hooked on collecting World coins (like many of us at CT). BTW, the first thing you should do with a purportedly silver coin from China is weigh it, measure the diameter, & check to see if it is magnetic. Of course, there are other counterfeit diagnostics for each series of coins. Always feel free to post photos here at CT. :thumb: BTW, I believe that DCH is spot-on but you should check the coin in-hand for yourself.
