    ...I got something new

Not my first choice but the only one I could afford (relatively speaking), prices were not "bidder friendly" today

It has seen action, but overall quite nice imo :smile

Very nice style. Its so good it seems you would recognize old Antiochus walking down the street. :)

Niiiiiiice. I can imagine the price on that coin to be a bit up there. But its gorgeous, and one any ancient collector would love to have.

I'm also a bit surprised at the prices at CNG today - definitely higher than normal for their auctions, many coins are going for several multiples. I won one lot so far, right at my maximum, and am still contemplating on bidding on one other, which is already pretty expensive for what it is.

I noticed quality sure still seems to have strong buyers.

Let them spend their money on high end stuff, and leave my scraps alone. :)

When it comes to coins, I'm much like a lawyer. I'm a real bottom feeder. So like you med-man. Let the high rollers spend their money. However, as the prices for high end coins rise, so goes the rest of the coins.:(

I just finished my bidding and did end up winning the other lot I was after, again right at my max bid and a record price for the variety from what I've seen. I'm not complaining as I've been looking for one for a while. I'll post my winnings when I receive them in-hand :)

...and it was not even a memorable auction imo, not that many "stunners" in there compared with their usual printed sales :eating:

Maybe I'm getting too difficult

I felt the same, and thought that perhaps my eyes are too used to seeing NAC catalogs and therefore have lost some appreciation for other coins. It's strange to go through page after page and not see much of anything that jumps out and screams "Wow!"

Well, unlike you two crafty, ol' auction-veterans => I'm absolutely "lovin" my two new coins!!

I [really] like my new coin, but also like to have "more choices". Last spring auction I had put low bids (at or near starting price) on 10-15 lots, won the first 3... good thing bidders woke up after that cause I would have been bankrupted :goof:

Yah, your new coin "is all that" => it's a great purchase (NOTE => and one of today's only purchases that was actually "below" the estimated price => once again, you seem to be the King of Ancient Coins!!) ... yah, even Bing would have been impressed with that snipe-price!!!

=> Dude, I am honestly honoured to hang-out in the coin forums with you!! (you amaze me with your skilz!!)

Oh, but I would kick your butt if we were blasting the crap outta anything!! (ummm, maybe?)

    ;)

=> Have a great day, Batman
