If we're talking about regular issues and excluding commemoratives, as far as American coinage goes, I'm torn between the Walking Liberty half and the St. Gaudens $20.

I have to agree Teddy sure put artful engraving back in US coinage .
Liberty nickel were to me one ugly coin.
    Barber had made.
    New blood in anything helps.

I love the classic commemoratives. I particularly favor the designs of the Stone Mountain, Oregon trail, and Texas(yet I own none of these). Regular issue wise, I lean towards the Mercury Dime, and smaller denomination US minted Philippine coins. World Coin would probably be Imperial German 1 and 1/2 marks. Wow. I am pretty scattered...

If this topic was in the "US Coins" forum, I'd say Yes. But here ... you can always vote "Other". :)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Of course, the Liberty nickel replaced the shield nickel design. IMO Liberty was a nice upgrade to the nickel design. There are probably some beholders that preferred the shield design. :D

    P.S. I voted for "other"

There were a few nostalgic confederates who
read stars and bars into the design.

The bicentennial quarter has got to be the coolest thing in 20th century coinage.
