    Hello all, quick question.

The bank that I'm using as a dump bank shares coin suppliers as the bank that I order from. Both are different banks.

Should I be concerned about getting my coins back? I ask this because my supply bank changed suppliers from having bags of halves to boxes, same as the other, and I've been skunked mostly on the boxes, but the bags yeilded quite a lot of silver.

This is what I say in my expirence. My two dump send there coins to the bank that I pick up from. I haven't gotten any of my coins back. so I would not be worried . That is my what I think but wait for others to chime in .

Don't listen to gunnovice, he's he's just:too-cool-for:. Boxes have a bunch of crap in them sometimes, and I found 32 40% and 10 90% in 1 bag of halves!

I'm no going to waste my breath arguing with you since you're obviously the EXPERT in every subject and thread. Plus given the language in your recent post you ll be banned anyways.

Ask the bank if they will give you bags. Some won't have bags since halves aren't commonly used, and some aren't allowed to give bags even if they have them. But if you can get them, they're pretty good!

Well I took them to the coin counter, about $900 in it got jammed and they had to clean out the machine from the coins.

Turns out that the coin machine counted two dollar coins, one dime, two nickles, and I forgot a coin at my half.

    I walked away with $1,001.61

Total profit of a 40% half and $2.11!

I think banks should start having sorting machines similar to those at the super market. The difference being, there would be a slot similar to an ATM, where account holders would insert their card and input their PIN. If you don't have an account with the bank, you would be tendered a receipt showing your total poured into the machine and a fee would be deducted for the "processing" of the transaction. You would take the receipt to any teller and get the net amount paid to you. At this time, you'd be offered a chance to open an account, with the bonus being that you get the full amount deposited into your new account.

North Korea, that's how it is at the local credit union here. It's a 5% charge for non customers and people they hate that are customers (me). You dump your coin in the sorter and bring them the receipt.

That makes no sense, on the second part. If you're a member at the credit union, you're essentially a shareholder. If they really are charging you the five percent charge (and not crediting it to your account), write a letter to your CU's board of directors. Tally all of your receipts and request (personally, I'd make it a mandate, but a request might be better received) a reimbursement to your account of all fees charged to date. Cite that you've seen other members be allowed to take their change to the teller (and not pay the surcharge). Essentially, it'd be a discrimination complaint.

Now, if they charge everyone the five percent, that's different. I would disagree with that policy, but I've also never been charged by my bank for getting or depositing change.

Yeah, voice your complaint and they will most likely comply. I once complained about 6 months of fees I hadn't noticed, and my bank made it right. They hide behind rules but in the end can do what they want, and can credit you, if you speak out.

I have never had an issue with a non-customer charge getting applied to me (as a customer)

I was dumping about 500 in halves a week there and they said it was too much money. So now they charge me 5% for any total over 20 dollars! I told them they need to put a sign up. It is only me they do it to as a customer. This came from the head of all the branches. Also, it's a local based credit union. I do feel discriminated against. Who only cashes in 20 dollars at a time. I'm only allowed to bring rolled coin in free of charge.

It doesn't have anything to do with you make a habit of it, does it? Really, unless you're a gay, disabled, minority, elderly female, you're barking up a tree on discrimination. Quit and find one that treats you better.

You must have really been hitting them hard. What exactly did you do wrong to them?!?

I wasn't hitting them hard. I was splitting my dumps up at different banks. At this branch I was bringing about 500 in halves a week and like 300 in nickels. It was this branch only that made a stink about it and made this rule that is put in the computer in my info so it is enforced at all branches. They are all bitter middle aged women there. The one in the adjoining town here is run by nice young girls who aren't rude. I'm allowed to bring in rolled coin free of charge which is better than nothing but still a pain. So, when I was doing halves I made sure to bring them All rolled up to the branch that had me forbidden from the coin machine.
