    My Birthday's in June so i purchased a few coins, This and two others are in the mail, it might be a week from now before i get them...:smile

    Diameter: 13.7mm
    Weight: 1.23 grams
    Obverse: no legend, laureate head right
    Reverse: rhinoceros walking left, L I-Z (= year 17) above
    Reference: Emmett 719 var (rhino right) , BMC -, Dattari -, Milne
    Other: gVF, apparently unpublished variety of a rare type

    Nice Domitian quadrans. Facing left is the rarer variety. I lost one in the Triskeles auction this morning. :( I already own a few, but still........

    Medoraman => ummm, was it you that stated that there were only two Rulers with rhinos?

    => Domitian and Trajan?

    ... and both of these have a left and right example (therefore, there are only "4" Roman Rhino examples?)

    Medoraman, the company that sold this coin said there was another one that sold today, i think he said $155 plus comish, i got mine for a hundred and 5 for shipping, i bought this from vcoins, Musa Numismatics, Glen is a great guy and will work a deal..plug,plug..

    Yes, this Domitian quadrans and a Trajan dichalkon are the only ancient rhinos I have ever found. Kind of small collection. Both come in facing left or right.

    Yes. That is the one I got outbid on. It had a pedigree, and pretty green patina, but otherwise not better than yours. Already owning multiples of this coin makes me price sensitive.
