Looks like there is going to be a $100 for $100 series like the $20 for $20. I have at least one of each of the first series. I don't know if I will go for the new series at $100 each. It is a nice coin though. Anyone plan to get this?
The $20 for $20 IMO is a successful series mainly because $20 isn't that much to spend on a coin. I do believe this series will be successful, but in smaller numbers. I say that purely out of opinion because $20 is expendable income, $100 a little less for some. I do hope to see some great designs in the future though.
Ummm, I think the X$-for-X$ coins are a no-brainer .... why wouldn't you buy them? (well, why wouldn't you buy them, "if" you are a coin collector, right?) ... they're even-money ... you can always cash them back out (ummm, right?) => ummm, can you actually cash-out these coins for their face value?
Technically, yes, but I have heard reports of businesses refusing to accept them, even though they are legal tender in Canada.
Thanks for responding, Cazkaboom => umm, but your local "bank" should respect the face-value, correct? (if so, then why wouldn't you buy them, if you're a coin collector? => a $100 Buffalo coin is certainly far more cool than a $100 Canadian Bill .... right?) => I certainly think so ..... but if the bank won't cash 'em in, then they quickly lose their allure (*sigh*)
I am curious about these. I love the idea of spending a silver coin. There are a lot of threads, here on Cointalk, about the difficulty spending the Presidential dollars - and even 50 cent pieces. What would it be like spending this $100 piece. I think I will get a couple. They certainly will not lose their $100 value. (It's about $20 worth of silver at this point)
