Found this 1893 Morgan-CC Silver Dollar today while cleaning out my grandfather's numismatic collection. It was just loose in a box. I placed it in a 2X2 flip. Since the family has to liquidate the collection, is this coin worth enough to bother to have it graded? Sorry about the images - only have a flatbed scanner here today.

If it's not harshly cleaned (and it's hard to tell with scans) I would say around $1000. So in my opinion I would have it graded if it's not harshly cleaned.
Judging from the hairlines and the washed-out look, your coin looks very harshly cleaned. So your '93-CC would probably just get a "Details" grade. I would say VF details, net grade of F.
Just got home and was able to re-scan the coin enlarging it 400%. The scanned images appear darker than the actual coin - especially through the 2X2 flip. The coin is much, much lighter that the images present. So then it appears from the comments the coin could be altered at the '3'? Perhaps the larger image may assist in pointing out additional area(s) of alteration. As far as cleaning goes, I have no knowledge of that being done but there are some straiffing marks on it. Whether these marks are/were from cleaning or manufacture I have no idea.
Looking at the clearer pictures, it could be an altered date. But looking at the VAM-1 picture, it seems that the 3 does line up in the right position, compared to an 1892 where the 2 is slightly lower. Also, the CC seems to match up with the mintmark on the reverse of a VAM-1, but while there are die breaks at the top and bottom shown in one of the VAM-1 photos, the poster's coin only apparently shows lines resembling die breaks at the top, including the slight bulge above the A shown in the VAM-1 photo. At any rate, the coin doesn't seem to match up with any of the other 4 VAMs.
There's often a rush to judgment with regard to alterations and fakes around here, especially with Morgans. I'd counsel the OP to avoid jumping to conclusions, and that even though it appears to have been cleaned, a professional certification of this coin would be justified. Meanwhile, I wish I had a grandfather's coin collection to sort through
A good rule of thumb is, if the lines run parallel to each other (like straight down or straight across), or criss-cross each other, they are signs of harsh cleaning.
I could not agree more Collector1966, but it's a nice coin regardless of its condition. It's a Morgan! :hail: BTW: Hello Everyone! This is my very first official CT post. "A slab cannot display a coins true beauty, unless it's an NGC Slab"..... j/k....
I wish I had the opportunity to buy her. If she ever comes up for sale please let me know as I don't have a 93-CC in my Dansco yet.
