Coin Marking Punch stamp reads COPY 2mm height EverStamp Replica Marking Punch

How about that? Now, if you find an unmarked fake that has somehow (ahem) slipped past eBay's policy enforcement, you can buy -- on eBay! -- a punch to mark it. How convenient!

Of course, this same supplier also sells punches for ".999", ".925", "STERLING", "14K", and so on. Not that anyone would even THINK of misusing such a stamp. Sigh...

Think of all the mayhem you could start with a stamp such as that.

    You lost me. What Mayhem?

BTW, if the price was around $9.95, I'd pick one up.

I am considering buying one, with 'SPP-Ottawa' on it, and stamping it on circulated nickel dollars I give as change at coin shows.... just for fun, and to see where, and when, they turn up...

I would think they could cause some "mayhem" at the local fleamarket... I can imagine sellers of fake bullion, etc., using these to add an air of "authenticity" to their junk.

Maybe I should use it on a real coin, like a proof Silver Eagle, then everybody will be amazed at how far the counterfeiters have come :p

I just kinda thought every counterfeiter would want one of these stamps. I would if I was selling fake coins!

If you ever do SPP I want to get a copy. I collect those kind of things as part of the contemporary "wing" of my counterstamp collection. I've actually stamped a lot of States Quarters and other coins with my own stamp. Hope to find one in change someday.

That seller has been selling that stamp for at least a couple of years.

While I understand the sentiment, not only is this the only place I've seen where that stamp can be bought, I think that $39.00 is the lowest I've seen it in the two years I've watching.

If you do that SPP Ottawa, please make sure you sell me one!

I say go for it - it is fun and will help create a collectible of the future.

    What he said….

Also, consider this – if you get a stamp, you can count on selling a few coins and that will help defray the cost of it. I have one punch that easily paid for itself with a few eBay listings, even though that was not my intention when I got it.

There are a couple very famous and sought-after modern Canadian dollar counterstamps – “JOP” and “G.A.N.” I promise that if you get into the act you will be able to leverage a little of that interest for your own project and that stamp will pay for itself in no time.
