    Hi everyone
Its been 10 years since I started my Icelandic Kingdom Era coin collection and I got the coin that I thougt I would never find in Unc condition ,,,its a 1933 25 Aurar and its in MS-63. This is the first and only one I have ever seen....I don't think even Siggi has come across this one. I did buy one from Siggi a few years back but it turned out to be a AU not Unc ,,,it had some light wear and a planchet flaw and a few scratchs and bag marks. All of my other Icelandic coin are all in Mint State condition . Thank God for paypal credit or other wise I wouldn't have been able to pay for this coin ......Its kind of sad now thats its complete because now I have to find something else to collect....someday

I do have a few romian coins from around 250 to 350 AD I sold the rest of them over the years to help pay for the Icelandic coins in my collection.

Yes, and no. You could play the registry set game (possibly with no competition) and continuously seek to upgrade individual pieces in the set. I was the same way a few years with a date set complete, but then better coins came out of the woodwork, and I realized, while my date set is complete in my collection, it is not truly complete... if that makes sense...

I was a member of NGC Registry and did have the top set for the Icelandic Kingdom Era coins but never renewed my membership......Now a friend of mine in Iceland joined and has the top rank set of this type even if he has only about 17% or so completed. I also have the best Icelandic Althingi set from 1930 with all the coins graded by NGC at MS-65.
I am looking out for coins for this set that might grade higher then the ones I have but my buddy Siggi has those in his collection....their has been a increase in popularity of Icelandic coins over the past 5 years and I have noticed that more and more coins have been sent to the grading companies ,,,so you never now what might pop up,,,,,,like my 1933 25 Aurar.

    Congratulations.

I've long liked Icelandic coins and would have a collection of all these if they were around. I love cu/ni coinage but want it only in Unc and I just couldn't find it. It might be a little more available if they fix the catalogs to reflect its true value.

Krause has raised the prices a little on these (at least the moderns) but most of the old ones and many of the newer ones still seem vastly underpriced so there are no sellers. When coins are scarce and people don't want to sell it makes them hard to find.

Congratulations on finishing the set in Unc. grade. Its always hard to find rare and scarce coins in high grade let alone afford them when they're available.

Perfect! Now that you have completed the Icelandic set. You now have the freedom to branch out in every direction, and pick what appeals to your eyes and pocket rather than the constraint of finishing a set. I imagine when your like 1-2 coins away from finishing a set its hard to branch out. Congrats on finishing and you are at a numismatic crossroads.

Thank you ..Cladking......I know you are a fan of Icelandic coin ...you were one of the first fellow coin collector I have come across since starting this set 10 years ago. Its very true that the first 20 years of Icelandic coinage is very hard to come across in Unc.....I know since I have spent thousands of hours looking every possible place I can find on the Internet with very little success most of the time. And yes Krause has rasied some of the prices of some of the coins in this set ,,,but doesn't really reflect how scarce they are....I paid double the catolog price for the 33 25 aurar because I know that it could be another 10 years or more before I see another one. Well seller's have been putting up more of these coins on Ebay since I started...10 years ago I would never see more then 100 listings for Icelandic coins and paper money and now there never seems to be less then a thousand at any time. ...There out there you just got to keep looking.

Thank You ......icerain......it was a interesting road I went down and I'm sure my Icelandic Grandparents are very proud of me......But they might be just laughing a little bit because I spent so much money and time on coins that was worth maybe a penny or two at the time they were around when these coins first came out...LOL
