and in other news.....a good article on Yahoo..[h=1]Rare coins worth millions displayed in New Orleans[/h]
Picked this up today at an antique store. It is a Lucite lighter. I only paid $10. It contains a 1945 dime, 1964 D quarter, 1947 half dollar, 1964 nickel, 1964 cent. The melt value is $14.75 so I did well.
I love colorfully toned Proof Lincolns and only accept ones into my set that I can get PCGS-graded as problem-free (in a feeble attempt to screen out AT'd coins). The end of the bronze (95% copper & 5% tin/zinc) run through 1982 is a tough era to find color; but I had a good week. I found a colorful PCGS-graded 1982-S on eBay last Sunday; then got grades back on the 1977-S, 1978-S, and 1981-S (Filled S) on Friday! Not too shabby. The 1980-S actually got the monster grade of PR68RB, which is a very high grade for an RB (color) coin. I submitted the new ones PCGS Secure Plus so they could be sniffed for illegal chemicals -- thankfully they all passed. Needless to say, these are TOUGH to find and get tougher as you move forward in time from 1982.
I love the 1978-S and the 1980-S. The peek-a-boo 1976-S isn't bad either. Oh yeah, I like the the 1981-S with the filled S also. ****, I think I like all of them. Great colors. Mighty tough to find on these later years.
