Yes, it was after seeing the post from Sonlarson and yourself that I decided to search out a nice example! :thumb: Here's another new coin added to my collection... KM#618 Mintage:3,000 :hail: Aztec God of Death
Just shy of a tenth ounce, 0.0967 ounces. Mintage of 150,000 or about 1/7th the much more common 5 or 10 Peso coins. I've got $250 in it though it catalogs for quite a lot more than that.
68 down 27 to go. Working on my U.S. Mexico Type Set. Some new additions. 1915 1 and 2 centavos are 1 year Zapata issues.
I'm sure they do, as does NGC, but I don't have credentials to access either database. If the population is anything like the 20 Peso coin, then there are lots of them in AU58 to MS61 with very few in the mid-range mint state and almost unheard of in gem.
ff-topic:About coin I Found a back Door to Pcgs.Google Pcgs Graded 1916 2 Peso there is only 52 $2.00 Peso Gold in MS-63.:thumb:. Nice Buy!!:thumb:!!:kewl: http://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/publishedset.aspx?s=49510
Very slick there Jello, I like your work-around! So, fewer than 100 at this grade level or higher according to PCGS. Which, if it were a US coin, would make it a true condition rarity. But compared to most other world coins not exactly rare.
The 1916 Cuba 2 Peso is one of the most slabbed Cuban golds around. PCGS: <= AU58, 31 coins MS60-62, 39 coins MS63, 52 MS64, 34 MS65, 7 None higher than MS65 NGC: <= AU58, 59 coins MS60-MS62, 201 coins MS63, 124 coins MS64, 80 coins MS65, 5 coins None higher than MS65 PS -- No need for a work around for PCGS populations. The world-coin populations on PCGS's site are free to access for all.
Here is another one of my recent buys, checkout the wiki article on the Queen if you are into history of Korean peninsula. Coin is in very nice condition for something from 70s should easily be PR68+. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Seondeok_of_Silla
For a lot of foreign gold coins, there are fewer than 50 in all grades combined that have been submitted. There are exceptions, Cuba (apparently), Canada, anything from Russia with Nicholas II on it..,,. Only 7 of the 2 Peso coins in MS65 and none higher, which has absolutely nothing to do with my MS63, but interesting just the same.
No, there are 12 in MS65 (7 PCGS and 5 NGC). And, at least a couple of those PCGS coins are probably actually MS64's (given their somewhat erratic world-coin grading consistency). Nontheless, still it seems an MS66 (if out there somewhere) would likely command quite a bit. I guess I don't really know what the collector base is for these though -- if they are like the Russian small golds, even up through grades MS67 for some issues they still trade at almost spot price + a very small premium.
A nice little seated liberty design from Peru. For $25 I had a hard time not adding this attractive little coin to my collection.
