Today I did a 5 hour Metal Detecting hunt at Highland Park Brooklyn NYC. It was a cold day!

I also found a folded aluminum store token.
It's currently soaking in vinegar. Half Dollar size.

After a day at the playground, I'll bet your wife makes you take your shoes off at the door. You did well for it being so cold Grasshopper.

Does the vinegar not harm the uluminum?
I found a construction company/ video game token years ago. Let us know what the business is.

I know I've commented on this before, but you rarely
find any nickels. Just seems odd to me. Maybe I'm not
    seeing them in the pictures.

Glad you got out. I thought it was cold because it was cold here and I’m south of you. Nice finds again and the Mercury Dime is a good one.

I am not Paddyman. But Nickels are hard to find on certain detectors.
My Brothers cheap $80 detector finds them one after the other. It's either nickel or brass shell casings everytime we use it.

If I leave it soaking too long. It's only until the morning. It had some weird hard stuff in between the fold and I would like to bend it back to its original flat shape. It might break but at least I can see both sides

True.. The VDI number for Nickels on my detector is 15-16
About 95% of the times I dig those numbers it's usually pulltabs :yack:
Nickels are the least found coin in my detecting hunts. Silver war nickels ring up a bit higher at 17-18 so I find more of those than the Cupro-Nickel Nickels.

Nice hunt all older stuff or did you just not show the clad?
Might be worth a hunt gridded the sideways direction to which you went?

Vinegar shouldn't chill the coin like an acetone would. I would probably let the coin warm up after any soak before trying to manipulate it in any way.

"It might break but at least I can see both sides".

Maybe put something close to the bend like a toothpick or something to keep the area from bending.

I took it out of the vinegar and it cleaned up better.
At the moment I don't have the proper tools to unbend it. I will try this evening.
Here are some close up pictures..
