I personally think the photos don't show much luster but I am assuming it is there. The rim mark behind the eye on liberty and above N in one on the reverse don't help its cause much. Looks like something is going on with the O and N in one. Has a decent strike. Overall i think it would stay a 63. Whats your thoughts? And I suddenly want some ribs now.
Slabbed between April 2000 and August of 2005. Most likely while owned by Amos Press. Not during the supposedly "conservatively graded" period.
It has a 19 character bar code. They started that in April of 2000. In August of 2005 they changed the font on the labels, most noticeable on the MS coins was the center point on the M drops all the way down to the base of the letter. I don't remember the date when Amos Press sold out to Anderson Press but I believe it was after August of 2005. The supposedly conservatively graded period would have been in the early years Late 1989 to around 1995. Any more questions?
I had two old white holders that I sent to PCGS for crossover. The first was an 1807 50/20 Capped Half in XF40. It crossed XF40. The second was an MS61 Trade Dollar. I put on the form that I would accept MS60 as the lowest grade. It did not cross. I called and they simply said it did not meet their grading standards.
I ended up passing on the coin. Granted i didn't see it in person i just didn't care for it. And it sold to another person in line about an hour after i said no. Thank you for all the input and opinions.
I've got a couple of 1928 Peace Dollars slabbed by ANACS in FR2 condition. I'm amazed they can determine they're not erased "S" mintmarks.
