My newest coins

Man… I been hoarding coins so long that I could unload another five pounds and not miss it…. I don’t sell stuff but when I see someone say they wish they had an old coin, it does my old heart good to have the ability to help make that small wish come true.

 

I'm a lot like that. Everybody ends up feeling good.

I know I did when I opened the mailbox. All smiles.

 

I am now focusing on Mercury Dimes. I am trying to get nice coins RAW. I have got several that have been graded and others that look bad. When I find a nice coin to replace a RAW Dime in poor condition, I will buy that and put the "culls" in my scrap box. Maybe later I will finish my Dime collection and give the "culls" to some kids at our church that are into coin collecting.

 

That would be a nice gesture.

Mercs are fun to collect. Except for the 1916-D, the 1921-P and the 1921-D, you shouldn't have too much of a problem finding or affording them. I still need the 1921-D and of course, the 1916-D, but strangely enough, I've also had trouble locating the 1927-D which is a common coin. When I was a kid in the early 1960's, I still would see a few in circulation (that's also why I collect Franklin halves). You can always save the culls and sell them for melt value, and buy more coins with the money, but your idea is better.
