Can anyone help me to identify this coin? I had really wanted to know the composition and if it's worth anything.

Are you sure it's real? Looks exactly like my Fake Fat Man coin. :D The real ones sell for good money but I don't remember how much. Just do a quick search on ebay.

I inherited it from my grandfather who once went to China. And it might be a fake but i'm not exactly sure. I dont know what it is and i cant read chinese so i haven't been able to look it up.

Okay, i just put one on there. It was just a cheap magnet i took out of the back of a fridge magnet but it stuck to it (not sure if not being a rare earth magnet makes a difference). I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing though.

That's likely a bad thing. The coin that I was thinking it was is a 1914 Republic of China Dollar (Yuan), but those are made of silver. Magnets don't stick to silver.

Sorry to say old man, but if a magnet sticks to the coin it's definitely a fake. It's probably made of steel and worth about a buck as a souvenir.

So that is pretty much your answer. A lot of the older asian coins seem to be counterfeit and the magnet test is one of the easiest and quickest ways to see if the coin is not real.

i just copied and pasted what you think it is into a google search and it looked the same other than a few of the characters on the top were different and mine had 7 while the others had 6.

    And mine was magnetic

i guess this means mine is a fake.

Thank you for the help everyone!

    I believe that's a 1993 Mexico 10 Nuevo Pesos. KM #553. 47,981,000 were minted. 27.95mm diameter.

It has an 0.925 silver center, a total of 0.1667 oz of silver weight.

    Does the diameter match up?

    Oh. Thank you.
Yeah, there's another error factor on that coin. It looks way too new to be that old.
