Hi All. I'd really appreciate your help with these two silver coins. They are very small. Approximately the size and weight of the 3 Cent silver US coins. I'm thinking pre-colonial Spanish? Thanks so much in advance.
How do you know the first one is fake? The second looks too perfectly round and symmetrical right? Is that how you can easily discern it is fake? Thanks.
The first looks wrong to me.. Plus, a professional Numismatist said it was fake... Pretty condemning IMO The other has the wrong fabric, look, and, most importantly, is the wrong metal color! It should be bronze...
Yeah, I respect Ardatirion's opinion greatly. I have very little doubt they are fake, but was looking for a little explanation thats all.
Looking at the second one: The 'reverse' looks like a button. And far too round. The other, I'll trust Ardy
That's not really sufficient reason. It's ALWAYS best to try to see why someone thinks it's fake. That's how you learn! The obvious problem here is that the coin is "silver" on one side, and copper on the other. Unless this is a genuine Spanish colonial coin fused to another, I see no other logical explanation.
I meant it this way: It looks wrong due to the problem you mentioned And this is support to the first statement: Plus, a professional Numismatist said it was fake... Sorry about the miscommunication.
No worries, I knew what you meant. I just want to make sure everyone learns why. I was hoping someone else would chime in with the specifics.
