Until 1990, the mint marks were punched into the dies by hand. Sometimes they bounced or sometimes the mint worker repositioned the mark. Thus the re-punched mint mark. From 1990 on the marks were engraved into the dies thus ending the era of RPMs.

Technically speaking I don't think this is correct but I could be wrong. In 1990/1991 the US Mint began punching the mint mark into the master die. It wasn't until 1994 that the Mint included the mint mark as part of the coin model and as such a feature of the Master Hub.

I hope whoever bought it did't pay more than a buck for it, and knew that it was machine doubling and not a DDO or an RPM.
If a repunched mintmark occurred on either the master die or master hub, then all of the "descendant" working dies would also have that RPM. Taking into account how many working dies come from a single master hub or master die, the RPM would number in BILLIONS. Since none have been discovered, I think it is safe to say that you can't have an RPM after 1989.

I know there's a lot of YN's buying and selling on the 'Bay, but just to reiterate eBay's policy: you must be 18 to register. I assume the YN's are using an account other than their own (at least I hope they are). :)

Yeah I don't think 12 year olds should be playing on ebay. When I was 12 if I wanted to make money I'd shovel driveways, pick up sticks, rake leaves, ect.
