I think you are dating yourself with Rosanne Rosanadana man. I bet you, (unfortunately), quite a few here do not know of her. Too bad, it was hilarious.....

SNL was great the first couple of seasons. It really went downhill after that. I use Gilda's line (It's always something.) fairly regularly because it is true.

I've had in state packages leave the state , but I always got them. Most of the time, they go to Vegas first :)

I had one coin which took 3 months from Greece and another 6 months from Jakarta. One sale was voided out, the other reshipped with a replacement coin. I sent both sellers another PayPal payment along with a notice about the coins. Even when all is lost, it isn't.

Waiting for a package to arrive is always the worst, sometimes I think having tracking on it can make it even more horrible. I wouldn't fret too much detecto I bet the coin shows up in the next day or 2 :D

The reason is final delivery in the sois. Thailand Post hires motorcycle pool bikes (the same ones that hang out under bridges, at corners, etc as gangs) for the final delivery stage. I assume this is where most "theft" occurs, as I've had one item *disappear* that was sent to Thailand. The way I do it is I write "used" and "costume" or "toy" on everything I send.

Thais don't like used anything, it seems... They even call old houses/condos second-hand or used.

Beyond that, I think the worst Post Office HAS to be my local one. I paid for a return receipt card, and they didn't get it signed. I asked for a refund for non-service (since 800.ASK.USPS rep told me to do so). They said they won't refund the money, but can get the card signed, if I want. I accepted that (more so to see if anyone would _really_ sign it), and the worker started saying "Really? He expects us to send that back to California just for a stupid signature?" as I walked out. Mind you, the one that made the comment told me when I went to the counter for help "You know we're about to close for lunch." at 11:52. They "close for lunch" from 12pm - 1pm. It's bad enough that the postal employees are unionized. It's worse in a pro-union state where union employees "retire" from one union job to work in another... You know, to offset their expenses in retirement.

For the most part, the postal system works well. I think I've had eight packages lost in the last decade and maybe three dozen with "sorry we shredded your package" stickers. Not so bad, except when they DO lose the package, they seem to indemnify it.

Maybe, your delivery carrier is a Coin Talk member (with a sense of humour)... whom was just wondering how long you would possibly wait, before you posted here and complained about it!

I am very sorry you guys have such bad experiences with your local post office. My post office has employees I have known for a long time, and they still make an effort to do the right thing. We have had little bumps, something laid aside after scanned delivered. But a bit of patient and polite persistence and a still friendly attitude got the thing found with a sincere apology.

You would be surprised how well you get taken care of when you leave Christmas presents for your carrier. ;)

You can take them candy and treats but they cannot legally take gifts. One of my post office clerks gets all the foreign stamps I get in the mail - she uses them for a cub scout project.

Me neither, all of the post offices do a passable at worst, excellent at best, job.

That's not exactly stunning if you also live in a major metropolitan area. Media Mail is the lowest class of mail available. It ships "as space available."

18 Months is still stunning, even for media mail. 18 days is even abnormal.

Right now the Seattle PO is the one I think is the worst. Evidently Seattle is one of those cities that puts directional words after the name of the street, and doesn't have a directional in front of the city. I mailed a letter to an address and instead of putting the directional "East" on the second line after the word Avenue, I put it on the 3rd line in front of the word "Seattle". I used the correct zip code. Because those fools couldn't figure out that since there wasn't an East Seattle in that zip, and there wasn't an east behind the street type, that it had to be returned to me as undeliverable since there is no such address. I got it back and looking at the zip code, for the house number and street name, there is no other directional after the street type than "east", so that couldn't have been confusing them. Also, there is no "east Seattle" in that zip, but neither is there a North, South, or West Seattle. So again, that should not have confused them. It took 10 days to get there and back, basically.

The only thing I could conclude is some low-life postal worker decided to mess around with someone who didn't use the "correct" directional in the "correct" place.

A shame, because I sent that letter late, and it had a deadline. The deadline has long since passed, and when I got it back I immediately sent it in a priority large envelope.... the only difference is I put a person's name on the top line (instead of just using the name of the event) and I used the word 'East' after the street type and just "Seattle" as the city. I am really hoping it gets there, because if it doesn't in the next day or so, I'm afraid an entry I made for something will be cancelled. This also cost me about 6.00 to get it sent the second time.

I used to send letters to places and use directions.... like "corner of first and ash" (to a bank) or leave out the zip code. They always got there. And get ones addressed similarly (like to my military address, but not using the correct format) and they get delivered. This one gets bounced back and it's ridiculous. The post office used to be worth using.

Seattle Postal People are getting no love from me now.
