My mother has been talking about some 'half dollars' she has for about a year now that she picked up with the intent of giving to the kids one day. For my 30th birthday I heading back East and she mentioned she had found them. I was surprised to see that her 'half dollars' were actually a book of about 25 Morgan and Peace dollars. She purchased these through Postal Commemoritive and of course all the key dates are missing. Not to be outdone she also gave me this book of US Mint sets from the same company, 1966-2000 and an ASE she had. I don't think I will ever sell these, but she definitely added quite a bit to my collection.
great Mom there. those have awesome pics on them. any key date morgan dollars in there ? the sentimental value priceless.
I'm just curious if those holders are safe for the coin in the long run. That was not done by the US mint, right?
The mint sets I believe are they actual ones issued by the mint, but inserted into a full page with some stamps and some images. The Morgan's may be glued in place. I had contemplated pulling the dollars out and putting into another book, but will probably leave the mint sets as they are. Mom will definitely be getting a nice gift for Mother's Day.
