I know some people talk about having the highest graded coin in a particular series, year, or any other such categories. Would you think it to be justified to get a coin graded so you can say you have the only one graded by ngc? Well, only one of a certain variety.

    dsmith23 Gotta get 'em all

Unless you plan on selling it, or play the registry game, I wouldn't bother getting it graded.

Edit: if your selling, make sure to take the price of grading it into consideration.

Agreed. If you want to sell it though, being able to say "population 1 in all grades" is a nice selling point!

It would possibly be for selling down the road. Even without the variety I would still be good in it after grading and shipping. It is a seated quarter which not to many people care about and isn't one of the more popular varieties. But the allure of being able to say I have that coin I think would be neat. It does seem the series is getting a little more attention now days then it has in the past, so might possibly become desirable.

One of the reasons it gets "little attention" is that to do a complete set you need mighty deep pockets and it collected by die state/variety

The Dansco if i remember correctly has around 100 spots. I am actually attempting this set. Sure there are a few coins that are worth that of a car, but for the most part the set isn't all that bad. I have given myself the time frame of ten years to do it in.

Oh I've been getting into to Liberty Seated series pretty hard lately, mostly dimes and halves, and I'm sure I'll give the quarters a whirl also, but when the 4 cc's will cost you a combined 20K in g4 not counting the 60s and 1 or 2 others. My

  9. The seated 25c series is no joke. It's one of the toughest series to put together. The half series is much easier. I have no experience or knowledge of the dimes.

I like quarters because it seems for the older series they are harder to find in decent condition then other denominations. I am just curious to how many others would spend the $40 ish on having the only one graded of a type of coin. The more I think about it the more I want to.
