I recently was in communication with Mr. Gene Hessler as I was asked to contact him by a person that once played music with him. His reply was great to receive! I have missed our Forum of the past which included some really special collectors and Bank Note presentations we had going. While I am recovering from my illness, it has consumed alot of me...I need not say any more. Gene mentioned to me that he had some copies of his Books if any of you are interested..in the past he did autograph them and even included some nifty things on his own accord. I am not saying he will or would continue to do this as I have no idea of that anylonger. I just thought I would mention this to you all and if any of you new collectors are interested please IM me and I can details for you. Let me stress the fact that I do not receive anything for this..I simply communicate with him. If interested let me know....you can ask others who did this a few years back to see if I am on the up and up regarding this. My only interest is the great work in which he has documented that will benefit your knowledge and appreciation of Paper Financial Interest's.
Probably the only younger than 100 year old reference book that goes into the glass doored bookcase. Well worth the purchase price:yes:
+1 I reference my Engraver's Line nearly every day. Rick, do you think Mr. Hessler would be willing to answer any questions about obscure engravers or bank note firms not found in the books? Greg
Midas1: I have sent an email to Mr. Hessler to find out what he has (# of copies of each book) willl get back to you. Thanks for the reply... For those of you who have replied I will get back to you via PM.
Dear Fellow Collectors: Those of you who expressed interest in a personalized/autographed copy of the Engravers Line or the Intl Engravers Line, Mr. Hessler replied that he does have both books. I have asked him for a cost and will post as soon as I hear from him. Again..I would like to express that I do not benefit from this whatsoever...the books are fantastic and the Author is a genuine Gentleman and Numismatis/Synographer. I hope each of you who accquire this enjoys your copies as much as I have enjoyed mine. God Bless.. RickieB

Seems like a lot of money - but these are limited printings and a valuable source of information. I enjoy mine enough that they went in the special bookcase I have that otherwise just has 100+ year old books in it.
SM: If you recall, the last time we did this I chipped in $5 for everyone's books..that was before I got sick....I wish I could help but I cant any longer...the proceedures I have performed have consumed everything.....I am just doing this due to my recent email conversation with Mr. H I hope you all understand that I am no longer in a position to anything except provide this opportunity..thats it.
Amazon has it for sale used at double the price, http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0931960363/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used .

I received my package from Mr.Hessler today. Thank you Rickie for facilitating this acquisition for me. Along with an autographed edition of The Engravers Line, Mr Hessler was kind enough to include; The supplement with additions and corrections An introduction to collecting MPC's put out by the PCDA A classic (1976) Whitman Introduction to Collecting Paper Money by Neil Shafer and 2 classic vignettes, one by John S Wallace , printed on card stock with intaglio printing. Thanks again Rickie and Mr. Hessler.
SteveinTampa: As mentioned before...I am glad to help out a fellow collector. It looks like Mr. Hessler took care of you pretty well!! :thumb: :thumb: What a great resource for all of us collectors...although I have not collected in almost 1.5 yrs now.. This puts a huge smile on my heart..... RickieB
Well, after an anxious wait, I received my package today: The Engraver's Line and The International Engraver's. These books are great. I've already thumbed through them and am very pleased with these comprehensive works, chocked full of illustrations and biographies. The Engraver's Line came with two engraved prints: "Barbara by American engraver Johns S. Wallace", and a second engraved print of an older style $100. Also included was the supplement to the book as well. The International Engraver's Line came with an engraved print: "Panamanian Girl engraved by Anthony P. Smith" I also received a copy of the PCDA Pamphlets "Collecting World Paper Money" and "Collecting Military Payment Certificates". I am very pleased that I decided to get these. Thank you RickieB for your part in getting these at a great price with the inscriptions and all. And though I am not sure he bothers with the forums, A big thank you to Mr. Gene Hessler - I will enjoy these books for a long time!
