When I first started collecting coins, I began by filling up Dansco albums, usually by opening up mint sets. I ultimately had many extra coins for all denominations and put them in extra albums, etc. Recently I started to go through these extra albums as part of my down sizing plan. I came across this beauty a couple of days ago. I always had a hard time deciphering cam from dcam, or even no cam for that matter. It was with a bunch of more modern proofs, so I didn't even realize it was a 67 at first glance. I assumed it was a 80 or newer. So, what to you think? Is it at least a cameo? Is there some way to "test" it to determine this? I've heard of the reflection test with PL and DMPL morgans. Is there something akin to this for cameo determination? Either way, what kind of value would this Washy be in it's raw state? Thanks for any insight you have to offer. -greg
great find from the past imo it looks like a cameo for sure but a good shot at DCAM the devices are completly frosted like modern proofs send it in for grading at ngc. pcgs is too conservitive with the sms coins
it's a very nice coin. i would say at least cameo. problem is there is alot of SMS coins with high grades along with cameo or deep cameo. so they don't tend to go for a lot. i have sold quite a few and was surprised how little they went for. it's always nice to pull one out of a set though
Nope, it is a purely subjective decision made by the TPG. And they are not always the most consistent on this issue.
