    Looks like a dipped "slider"

Bought at a fair price, though :thumb:

It looks like it has been cleaned to me. This seller's list of completed transactions/feedback reads like a "Dollar General Store". When was the last time you found any nice coins in a Dollar General? I'll withhold further opinion until the OP posts his own photos.

No deal. To quote Shark Tank--"I am out." It is heavily cleaned, and doesn't appear to show any luster.

I tend to back-away from anything w/"super shiny" in the description. If you're pleased, that's all that matters.

I don't see any luster on that coin...it looks dipped to death. I would have avoid it.

To my eyes, the coin looks to have been more than over-dipped (mostly obv), and I think the OP will not be pleased once it arrives. Definitely not what should be called a slider IMO.

Instead of taking ebay gambles, find a knowledgeable dealer who screens even slabbed coins to avoid the dreck. It is better to pay up for quality than to play hot potato.

If you got it under $30 you are all right. I wouldn't pay more.

To be fair to the guys that trashed the coin, the difference between the 2 pictures is night and day.

Of course it is, but that is the nature of the game. I have found more Beauties from a "Dollar General Store" type setting on eBay more so than from somebody who specializes in coins & bullion. Think about it, if this coin made it into the hands of a dealer instead of whom I bought it from... It would have never been let go in the middle of the night with the seller describing it as "shinny" with such horrible pictures. The funny thing is, the seller lives only miles away from where PCGS operates. Once I got the coin in hand, I knew it was special. Win some and lose some, but there is still treasure out there to be found...and that means I'll be a treasure hunter till it's all gone; or I'm all gone

Any time anyone makes a blanket claim that gambling on eBay is foolish, point them to this thread. :) Sometimes, $30 gets you $25K.

Now, granted, that's a bit like saying "I play the lottery every day because that one guy once won $100 million", but still...

Congrats, sir... a fine example of how appearances can be deceiving. But with that said, I still stand by my recommendation of not taking the gamble unless you truly know what you're doing and are willing to accept the consequences. This is not to say that you are unable, but examples such as this (and the one linked in the last post) are the exception and not the norm. For each score we hear about, there are countless other sales in which the buyer was not so lucky, and this is a reality wise to remember, especially for any newbie reading this thread.

750k minted, May be a little on the high side but you won't have a problem selling this coin if needed. Hope you are feeling better.
