After a long search, I finally found a Rhino-coin that satisfies my tastes!! (apparently Rhino-coins are pretty scarce!!?)

=> this one has full details, an attractive sandy patina and a pretty good lookin' Rhino!!

... sure, the flan shape is a wee bit scrappy, but overall I'm lovin' my new Rhino!!

Yup, that's a nice coin alright. I was looking at it myself but I'm holding off for the Arabian provincials of Trajan. Great choice - you're going to make Chris green with envy.

Honestly, I had no idea what a "dichalkon" was all about?
=> ummm, I merely loved and chased this awesome rhino-coin!!

However, I went searching and found out that this gorgeous Rhino-dichalkon is worth twice what its base-weight coin is worth (a chalkous) ... yup, apparently this dichalkon is worth 2 chalkons (nice)

Ooops, my tech-skilz are a bit suspect ... I need my EIT-peeps from my office to sort-out the tech difficulties!!

... anyway ... the table is still fairly easy to read (in the "AE" denominations, a dichalkon is worth 2 chalkous (the base weight)

Funny, because in my other thread (my Nerva Didrachm, is only worth 1/2 a tetradrachm, rather than being worth 2 drachms ... the standard in the AR world is the tetradrachm) ... hmmm, interesting? (kinda)

Yah, it might be a fairly close match, but I would definitely bet on Bing ... from photos, he seems to have a slight reach-advantage on me (plus, I would probably show-up too drunk)

There are two ancient rhinos, the quadrans of Domitian and this coin. Both come facing left and facing right varieties. I own both Domitians and the rhino left of the dichalkon. It is the rarer version, though, with the facing right version being a little more common. I will get the right version someday, when the right deal comes along.

I have been chasing these for a while Steve. I have just have been cheap and unwilling to pay what Vcoins asks. My dichalkon I got in a group lot with 13 other Trajan dichalkon for $340.

The Domitian's are a little more common.

Geez, never thought I would find another ancient rhino lover. Cool coin.

    cheers
