    well, let's see...
listing describes coins (still in gov't holder) as PR70 to start.
Anyone else want to weigh in?

    > It's not silver so the title is wrong.
    > It's not Uncirculated as noted in the description.
    > It's not PF70 because they are raw.
    > It's not silver as posted (again) in the description.
    > It's not a complete set because there are no SQ's.

I don't collect this sort of thing (heck, I don't even pay attention to them).
How do you know it's not the silver version?
And since they are still in the Mint packaging I would have thought the were uncirculated.

The silver proof set is in red packaging and the clad proof set is in blue packaging.

One tiny disagreement. They COULD be 70's, we don't know. Just because a coin is raw doesn't change a grade. A coin's grade is there long before a TPG "blesses it" with such a grade.

The auction is wrong on many levels, I just wanted to clarify that point. If you meant, "he cannot say its MS70 since Ebay rules forbid him from saying that unless its in a TPG slab", ok then I would agree. :)

The basic cost of a small USPS Flat Rate Box. What's wrong with that?

I've bought about a dozen sets over the last 3 months and paid from $4 to free shipping. $5 shipping stands out to me - I most always pass on that one

Chris, if the fool can't tell the difference between the Silver and Clad Proof Sets, not know that the proof sets ALL come with the SQ's, do you really think he would know the difference between a 69 and a 70, not for one, but for 5 coins?

    Chris (too!)

Never said that sir. I just wanted to remind everyone its not the TPG that makes a coin X grade. It always was X grade, a TPG just confirms it and slabs it. :)

Plus, the silver proof set says 'silver proof set', while the normal proof set just says 'proof set'.

So, pass on it. It's not wrong for a seller to charge a buyer for the (actual) cost of postage.

They're probably close to PR70. Within a few points anyways. Someone on here always says grading modern coins is silly anyways.

As for the $5 shipping. It's a waste to mail it in a Priority box. But if you're gonna blow that much on the coins, why not splurge on the postage too?

it looks like his pattern is to put a high price on it hoping someone will buy but he often takes the "or best offer" price, at least in his prior auctions. Sadly he is just hoping someone will overpay, which possibly someone either new to the hobby or big eds friend might, and then if they don't he takes whatever the best offer is. Misleading, yes. Dishonest, pretty much. Legal and in tune with our nations moral compass, definitely. Still a jerk in my opinion.
