I've been looking for a nice Bust half for a few months now and I finally found one I really liked for what seemed a reasonable price, so I bought it. Before I say what I paid, what do you guys think a fair price would be for this coin? I'm not real concerned about the value because I plan on putting it in my 7070 and not selling it. I think it's going to look great in my 7070 with the rest of my set :)!

It's a pretty nice coin! Looks XF DETAILS to me with the rim ding at the top and the scratches to the right of the eye. It's still a great type set coin!

Thanks for the help, but what do you think a fair price would be for it?

On eBay, I think it would bring somewhere between $70-$90 before fees. The Rim ding in my opinion, isn't as bad as the scratches. I personally like problem coins because I think there is money to be made in them. It's a nice piece and I wouldn't hesitate putting it in my own type set (I'm trying to make one again haha)

If you paid under $100, I think you did well :thumb:

Looks good. I'd say VF-35. The rim ding is distracting but not too bad.

Nice Bustie , I agree with VF-35 grade , it might be detailed with the scratches and the rim hit . Also in the $100 ballpark , that said Bustie prices are rising like crazy , or at least the early dated ones that I've been bidding on .

You have no idea, Rusty... :headbang:

Just give up. Anything from 1808-1814 is selling for moon money on eBay these days.

And if you want certified, forget about it.

Busties have gone nuts (as far as prices).

eBay has driven up the prices

Even though the "best offer" was accepted (the original BIN was way high), I can't see the seller taking less than $100 for this coin, which (to me anyway) is about thirty to forty bucks too high.

The seller accepted my offer of $120+1.95 shipping, so yeah I guess I overpayed a bit, oh well. It should be here in my mailbox tomorrow, so I'll get to see what it looks like in hand.

i bought this 1829 capped bust dime on ebay. it looks like it might be a curl base 2 variety. that is the only reason that i bought this coin. 1829 dime obv.jpg 1829 dime rev.jpg

coins776 - you really need to start NEW threads for all your questions (rather than tacking them onto someone elses unrelated thread). You'll receive more answers by doing that.
