1863 indian penny

    These are not made of the same composition as later IHCs from late 1864 through 1909. These coins are thicker, heavier, made with a higher percentage nickel and should be a more tan or white color. Yours looks fine, though it appears slightly corroded.

    Oh OK thank you I wasn't for sure just knew it looked silver and felt heavier it has a faint liberty on it but still low value I figure

    There are fakes of pretty much every US coin?

    As Tom B noted, your coin is normal. It is a copper-nickel composition and is thicker and lighter (in color) than the bronze cents that replaced them in 1864.
