I've found myself another cool animal-coin ... M. Volteius M.f AR Denarius / Boar Date: 78 BC Size: 18.42 mm Weight: 3.96 grams Obverse: Head of Hercules right, wearing lion skin headdress Reverse: Erymanthian boar right, M. VOLTEIA M.F in exergue Attribution: Crawford 385/2, Volteia 2, Syd 775 Description: A nicely centered denarius with full detail, Rarity-5, aVF ... sure, the obverse is a bit worn, but the reverse is still fairly nice ... oink-oink!!
Jerry, you're such an Erymanthian bore. Oh sorry. Read that wrong. I mean you have a nice Erymanthian Boar. The reverse is outrstanding. From goats to pigs (and maybe moose)!
Great coin. The sides are evenly matched in my opinion. The obverse portrait is very strong and distinctive.
SIDE-NOTE => I've started updating my Roman Republican "Album" once again (I've imported a few more photos) ... ... once I get my act together I will add-in the coin descriptions for each coin. => I now have 21 Roman Republican coins (1 Bronze and 20 Silver) ... Man, I really like this section of my collection (go take a peek)
i hear tell someone's here says squeal like a pig so i dropped my banjer an came a runnin' awesome boar stevex!
Very nice Jerry. I would be hard pressed to tell you which one I like the most. They are all very nice, and many I would love in my collection. BTW, what program are you using to put the obverse and reverse together?
=> I have tried using "Picasa 3" which you donated to me (thanks for that) ... but often I'm merely using the seller's photos if they're already good enough
UPDATE => I finished updating the "coin descriptions" in my Roman Republican Album (enjoy!!) => it is now time to go outside and enjoy the rest of the day ... Have a good one, coin-brothers!!
Nice boar. A pig is a much scarcer animal to get. You would think it more common, but its not. Maybe the rarest of all domesticated animals on ancients for some reason.
Thanks gang ... Yah medoraman, I don't think I have an actual "pig" ... I have a few boars, but it is pretty hard to find a pig (oink)
I want the ancient coin with the big chicken on the front... http://www.acsearch.info/search.htm...n=1&de=1&fr=1&it=1&es=1&ol=1&sort=&c=&a=&l=#0
