It looks like fake Silver trade Dollar.

If a magnet Sticks, it's no good. Please test with a Refrigerator magnet. Thanks!

It's a made in china modern Reproduction Made of Pewter Fake trade dollar.

There is Zero luster. The relief is flat. The leaf in liberties hand is looking quite crude.

If it is was real, the seller would be going head over heels trying to prove it's real.

Does the seller sell coins, or beanie babies? How many Positive coin reviews do they have?

Not all raw Trade dollars are fake and sometimes you can really get a bargain, but you should really know what to look for before bidding.

I am looking at lowball trade dollars on the Bay. Minimal premium over melt - we'll see if I even win!

Minimum premium over melt? Welcome to China, my friend!

Morgandude11 As long as it's Silver, I'm listening

Agreed. However in buying raw, one is dealing with the most counterfeited coin ever. I'd only get a Trade Dollar in a slab, even a "details" one for authenticity sake. Some of the fakes are terrible (like this one), and some are really good.

Paying melt for that thing would be under $1. It isn't silver.

The thing that I noticed that looked most "off" to me is the dentils separated from the rim across the top of the obverse. I deal with trade dollars frequently because I think the design is gorgeous and underappreciated. But I've purchased 2 fakes from the bay before and luckily was able to return them. Both were from U.S. based sellers with good feedback and an established ebay presence. People can get fooled. Morgandude said this was a bad fake, but it's a pretty good one in my opinion. Kinda middle-of-the-road, but fairly obvious if you've looked at enough of them.
