There's a long list of things in life worth getting upset about, I personally don't think that some old guy nudging in on some coins is one of them. I agree that it was a rude thing to do, but if getting to the coins first is that important to him then I say let him have at it. Coin collecting is a hobby, and pursuing the hobby is supposed to be an enjoyable experience. If a person gets to the point where they are willing to nudge people out of the way for a coin (the old guy) then pursuit of coins has become an obsession (or he's just a natural born a$$hole). On the flip-side, if someone looking over your shoulder at some coins is enough to get your heart rate up, then the same conclusion may apply. Of course, there's the principle of the matter. It's appropriate to take offense to the guy's actions. But as for the question "What would you do", my answer would be nothing. Coins shouldn't affect our bottom line, they aren't an essential part of life, and they simply are not worth engaging in confrontation over. Don't get me wrong, I love my coins and I love seeking them out. But other coins will always come along, and rude people always lose out in the end. Save the fight for something that really matters.
Onion rings and friend mushrooms work too. Asparagus and artichokes(fartichokes for a good reason) assist in producing destructive flatulence.
If that gas cloud rolled over the coins, would that be considered AT or NT? For sure something that foul would turn not only people interesting shades of colors...
Ir's A Crude Country! So what's new? It's often the public inconsiderate "Black Friday" personality of many buyers. I personally would have said nothing, given him "the look", and moved the coins from his reach. If he persisted, I'd just grabbed a large portion of the coins in my normally gloved hands, and slid the remainder to him. We should all share similarly. :thumb:
To the OP: Sorry the guy was rude to you. I have been told by many that I can generate a look on demand that says do not mess with me. In your situation, I would have given him that look. If he did not comply, I would have politely told him to wait his turn. Think Karma though. TC
Wow, didn't see this much of a response coming. I guess next time ill just have to have a back bone with others even if they are older. I did end up buying 2 ASEs one with nice red/blue toning. Nothing special, one of the Peace dollars I was looking at was gone.
I think in the future a simple, "Excuse me, do you mind!" will suffice. If anything, it illicit some sort of response from the guy/gal.
I believe there are many collectors at coin shows that have issues with personal space, not to mention not having discovered the wonders of frequent bathing. Went to a model train show over the weekend and have to admit the clientele were not quite as odoriferous and anti-social. I go to gun shows occasionally - now there are all sorts of stereotypes present there, some of the same sort you find in coin shows, but some are even more on the fringes of reality.
there are some strange people at gun shows. Also it seems like every gun show I go to there is always some guy selling nazi paraphernalia.
