Coins made for circulation aren't rolled by the government. They're shipped in huge bins to third-party rolling companies. Sometimes there will already be coins in the rolling hoppers which at times results in used coins being mixed in with new.

Anyway, I bought 56 rolls of CWR quarters and in my second roll I found a 1957D. This is my first quarter found from the 1950s. Anyone who goes through quarters knows that silver quarters are tough to find. I still have 54 more rolls to go through so the chances are decent I will find something else as well.

Went back to look at the same bank, but they didn't have anything.

Stopped at a new/different bank a 1/2 mile away and had another great find in loose halves/teller tray, along with every other bank on the way home.

    1 - 40%er
    2 - 90%er kennedy
    5 - franklins
    2 - walking liberty

Also found a Merc and a Rosie along with a few wheat cents.

No doubt. We don't get the plastic rolls around here anymore so it takes forever to go through a box. I haven't found a silver quarter in 6 months or more.

Are you saying the plastic rolls are easier to go through than the paper?

If you're just looking for silver you don't even have to open the plastic rolls to see the silver rim. Just have to look twice incase one is dirty and you don't want to miss it.

Yet another ugly 2000WAM. I only get ugly, dirty ones. If I have twenty 2000s, and 19 are super clean, guess which one is a WAM. :headbang:

ah, I wouldn't be able to do it that way though, would be too afraid of missing something. I've found some really dirty silver coins that didn't look to be silver from just the rim.
